Milan Fashion Week SS27

With October nearing it’s end I’ve been eager to catch up on the recent 2027 Spring/Summer Fashion Weeks. New York & London were fantastic, and I was eager to jump into Milan; it did not disappoint! I do have to say, whoever organized Milan’s FW website is a genius; referencing runways and presentations directly in the calendar made it so easy to go through the whole lineup without missing a thing.

Day 1

Milan kicked off Day 1 strong, and I’m loving the clean neutrals, historical romanticism, and… gold fish inspired?! Salinas’ crochet, fish inspired dresses are so whimsical and giving heavy goldfish vibes, just the cutest! Makes me wonder… could I make these at home?! – This to me is a sure sign of not only good design but good art; it not only makes you want to wear it, but it makes you want to create as well!

Day 2

I was so intrigued by the presentation style of Alessandro Enriquez, the drawn technique beautifully executed (and that seashell dress is deadly)! Of course I’m still loving the classic, clean, and romantic designs from Antonio Marras, Brunello Cucunelli and Luisa Beccaria. I could wear their entire collections on a daily basis!

Day 3 & 4

I adore when I am entertained, can appreciate beauty and I can learn something and Pecoranera’s presentation showing the assembly of their knit sweaters hit all of those notes! Another love of the day was Alberta Ferretti with their dresses giving me Lux-1910’s vibes.

Gucci has my heart with their designs bridging savvy & edgy, but best of all I felt was their cast of older models, it was honestly refreshing! As a mid-30’s-something myself, it’s nice to feel like you’re looking up to ladies in fashion and not just always referencing younger models. Of course they look phenomenal in the clothes, they’re in their 20’s with nary a wrinkle or bad back in sight. Give me Naty Abascal and Osanna Visconti di Modrone in these drop dead gorgeous outfits, yes please!

Day 4 & 5

Milan’s Fashion week showed no signs of slowing down, and Luisa nailed it in my books, with her romantic classic style.

Dolce and Gabbana brought the edginess and killed ‘the little black dress’.

What really intrigued me though was the detailing coming out in these wearable designs; Luisa’s matching brown stone accessories, Dolce’s Turquoise encrusted jacket, Sara’s twist at the bottom of her blouse, Ermanno’s nod to military uniform, and Kasai’s drapped cape. All flawless!

Day 5 & 6

A quick round up of the last few designers I didn’t want to miss! Laura’s entire collection has that wearable classic feel I can’t get enough of, and I really appreciated her mix of knits and silks. The detailing in Philipp Plein’s designs were awesome, such as the print lining in his top jacket, the denim styled nod to tweed, and the heart cut outs in the last jacket. I also have no idea how Sirivannavari made that black dress, but I am loving the metal wire structuring building it!
