Morning Readers & Happy Wednesday!
This week has been chaos, between a cold, school and the dog getting sprayed by a skunk (which permeated the entire home), I was also accepted into a Mentorship program with a local Women’s Business Network! My mentor is absolutely fantastic and has already inspired a reworking of my process & posting style, a little more polished.
Having said that, I’d love to share with you my most recent read, and a new favourite, When the Moon Hatched!

Raeve is an assassin for the rebel faction Fíur du Ath and presents herself as a “null” (someone lacking magic). In a world where the death of a dragon poses the creation of a new moon, Raeve pursues a dangerous mission only to have it follow her home. Along the way, she discovers secrets that tie her fate to that of the Kingdom.
What begins as a story of vengeance becomes a quest for identity and power, with the fate of the moons (and the people under them) hanging in the balance. With immersive world-building, morally complex characters, and the slow burn of 2025, I am absolutely in love with this new series!

I loved this unique take on dragons, and it has got to be the top read of the dragon subgenre for me, even beating out the Fourth Wing series and Blood of the Old Kings. While I do love the Fourth Wing series, this one has so much more world and creature building, nothing can top the diversity of these dragons.
Quote:
I think I’m learning how to exist without shackles and expectations. Without the hurt and the crippling fear of loss that hacks my head from my heart. I think I’m learning what it means to live.
If I could ball myself up like a Moonplume and nestle amongst the stars when I know my time has come, I would, Not that I think many would seek me out, but I’d die knowing I left something bright behind in this beautiful world sketches in so many shades of ugly.
Eyes wide, I search the sky, chasing the cloud’s mournful tears as they sing their fatal song. Like each tiny raindrop is innately aware they’re caught in a descent that can only end one way. That they will never be more whole than they are right now, plummeting to their doom.

So, if you love a good fantasy read, world building, and dragons, topped off with a sizzling slow-burn, this one’s for you!
Happy Reading!
