Morning Readers & Happy Tuesday!
Slowly catching up on my November Reviews and excited to get started into my December TBR! Amidst gearing up for the festivities, with Christmas parties & my first forays into the shopping season, I did manage a few amazing reads to tune down the month with, including ‘In the Veins of the Drowning’. I picked this one up months ago in the fall and I’m honestly kicking myself for having taken so long!

In a kingdom where being a Siren is a death sentence, Imogen Nel has to hide her true identity, suppressing her siren powers to survive living in the castle of a king who hunts her kind. Betrayal and political machinations force her to flee her home by forging a risky blood bond with a foreign king, Theodore Ariti.
As they navigate deadly sea creatures, looming political threats, and their bond, Imogen must confront the monster within and decide whether embracing her dark power is the only way to save herself and those she wants to protect.

This was such a fresh take for me, I loved it. The plot was new and original, and I loved the throw back to the traditional siren form from Greek mythology that differs what I think many of would recognize as a ‘siren’ today (ie. evil mermaid). I loved the strong main female character who learns to take her life and choices into her own hands after a lifetime of tiptoeing to please others. There was the perfect amount of revelations and twists along the way and every time this week I saw it popping up on another TBR I got so excited for them, and can’t wait to see what they think of it too!
What’s a book you’ve been meaning to get to that’s on your TBR?
Happy Reading! -Anna R.
