Morning Readers & Happy Tuesday!
I have absolutely lost myself in books lately and I’ve been loving it! This month is turning out to be a wicked reading month with a ton of amazing reads, and of course Ali Hazelwood is quickly becoming a must-buy author with ‘Bride’ really cementing that for me this week.

Misery, the only daughter of the most powerful Vampyre councilman, who is forced into a marriage of alliance with Lowe Moreland, the alpha werewolf of the rival clans. The union is meant to bring peace between their species, but Misery has her own hidden agenda.
As tensions rise between Vampyres and Weres, Misery and Lowe are caught between political duty and an unexpected, undeniable connection.

Let’s just get it out there and say that I went and bought a copy of the second book in the series, Mate, immediately after finishing this one. I am absolutely starting an Ali Hazelwood s̶h̶r̶i̶n̶e̶ *ahem* collection, and already can’t wait to dig into more of her books. I’m not a huge romance reader, but I do love fantasy and this was the best of both worlds. Note, there is definitely some open door spice happening in this one, no complaints here, although there were some raised eyebrows and embarrassed squeals.
The writing and the pace were both good, the plot was great, and the world building between human/were/vampire cultures was refreshing. I really liked the characters, and that roller coaster ending had me. The only slight critique that kind of killed it for me was the weakened perception of the vampires as a whole. The species came off as wimpy and weak, even more so than humans and I was kind of left wondering how they even survived at all. I’m hoping this is rectified somewhat in the next book but am definitely looking forward to it!
Quotes:

The Book Purge of 2025 has begun with a few books being shipped out to their new Booksta home, and another stack joining my physical TBR pile while I decide which gets shelf space and what gets donated. Having said that, this series is going nowhere and I am absolutely keeping copies for the shelf!
What’s your favorite Ali Hazelwood book? Or the one you’ve heard the most about?
