Morning Readers & Happy Saturday!

I am in the beginning stages of a book-purge and let me tell you… I may be a hoarder. This morning I found myself justifying the need for books on raising rabbits & soap making ‘in case the internet crashes‘. Full stop.

Thank goodness Robin has a heart of gold, this man spent a full 20 minutes on the phone with me, parked in the grocery store parking lot, as I cried (physical tears) and put books #9, 15 and 39 of my childhood Animorph series into the donate bin. I can’t stress this enough, I didn’t even have the first few books in the series, only those 3. And my 9 year-old heart absolutely broke as I let my childhood crush ‘Tobias’ rest on the top of that donate stack. I know what you’re thinking and yes, it’s true. The greatest book-boyfriend love I ever felt as a 9-year-old girl was for the fictional boy who was given mystical animal morphing powers by an alien and got permanently stuck in a hawks body. It’s a lot to unpack, I know.

K.A. Applegate, you were my god and started a life-long journey of reading and a love for tragic fiction.

Speaking of tragic fiction, let me introduce you to my most recent read and another favorite by Kristin Hannah, The Women.

Frances “Frankie” McGrath, a young nurse from California volunteers for service after her brother is deployed to Vietnam. Thrust into the chaos of wartime, Frankie confronts the brutal realities of combat and loss while finding her own strength.

The Women is a powerful and emotional story about courage, sisterhood, and the often-overlooked role of female veterans in a divided America.

I was a little hesitant to dig into this one as war movies tend to give me nightmares, but I should have known I was in good hands with Kristin Hannah and it has absolutely become a favorite. The characters were well rounded, the plot was exceptional, the writing style was great (as can be expected from Kristin), and the ending, ugh, the ending. *Chef’s Kiss*

A few of my favorite Quotes:

If you need any more convincing, I’ll admit that the Book Purge of 2025 was partially inspired to make extra shelf space for a copy of bad boy. It looks like I’m starting my own Kristin Hannah collection and can’t wait to get a hard-cover to share with friends and family!

I hope you are having an amazing weekend & Happy Reading!
