Morning Readers & Happy Monday!

I absolutely needed this book after a bit of a reading slump last week, between a lingering cold and headaches from the skunk smell in the house a week after my dog got sprayed, well it was a rough week. Luckily I had this book to help turn it around!

A Dance of Lies follows Vasalie Moran, once the prized dancer of the royal court until she’s betrayed and imprisoned for a crime she didn’t commit. When the king offers her freedom in exchange for becoming his spy during the high-stakes royal Gathering, Vasalie is thrust back into a world of glittering deception and buried grudges. She uncovers a tangled web of betrayal, bloody royal rivalries, and dangerous secrets, and she must decide between vengeance, loyalty, or love.

The main female character was honestly so refreshing and relatable as she finds her strength in her dancing and strives to fight for her freedom without becoming an all knowing, knife throwing weapons expert within the span of a month. The building of the political tension and ties really helped bring the story to life and had you guessing right up until the end, and oh gosh, the ending was amazing. This is one of those books that whether or not you snag a deal on your kindle or find a great price on a physical copy, it is absolutely worth the read!

A few of my favorite Quotes:

Needless to say this was such an amazing debut novel for Brittney and I will absolutely be reading the sequel set to be released in July 2026. I can’t wait to see how this story progresses!

Happy Reading!
