Morning Readers & Happy Thursday!
Ok, I finally finished this book, and suffice to say that it was not at all what I expected. I had no idea this was a thriller when I picked it up, and it is definitely not my typical genre. This did unfortunately affect my ranking on this one, simply because I didn’t enjoy reading it. I wouldn’t personally buy it but having said that, I did love the indigenous representation, the traditional influenced plotline that was completely original, and the ending was actually pretty good, for the thriller.

A chilling blend of horror and social commentary that follows four Blackfeet men who, as teenagers, broke tribal tradition with a fateful hunting trip. Years later, each finds himself haunted by the consequences of that act. An otherworldly force, born of their transgression, begins stalking them with brutal precision, blurring the line between guilt, memory, and vengeance.

Basically, if you like thrillers, and especially if you enjoy seeing native representation in literature, you will probably enjoy this read much more than I did. I just couldn’t get over the descriptive violence (which some may argue wasn’t even that bad) and had to keep taking breaks. If you see any of my other reviews for this book on social media, I will adamantly insist it is at least a 3-star, because I really feel like it’s written beautifully for someone other than me.
Maybe a good read as we head into these spooky months?? Happy Reading!
