Morning Readers & Happy Monday!
I’ve started keeping track of my reading habits (pages, minutes etc) and this week has been the most productive one yet with a total of 731 pages read, and 3 hours and 23 minutes of audio books listened to! I was even able to get my hands on my very first Advanced Copy, Is This A Cry For Help by Emily Austin, and I have to say I absolutely loved it! I also visited the library for the first time since I was 10, so you could say it was a pretty big week over here lol.
One of the books I managed to grab from the library was this one, Maggie; Or, A Man And A Woman Walk Into A Bar by Katie Yee.

Our main character finds herself on the receiving end of an affair leading to divorce, as well as diagnosis for breast cancer. She navigates the two in learning to come to terms with reality, leaning on her best friend, and focusing on her role as a mother.

I did find it interesting how the author decided to leave the main character unnamed, and the way that she structured her writing in wandering segments as opposed to chapters and a straight forward narrative is pretty much what kept me reading. I just really got the sense of ‘life happens to you and there’s nothing you can do but roll over’ and that message just doesn’t really resonate with me.
However there were a few cute moments & quotes:

Basically… I’m glad I didn’t buy it but I’m not upset at the time it took to read it. It was an ok read, just not something that spoke to me or would draw me back for a re-read.
Having said that I just picked up Shield of Sparrows and I am absolutely stoked to be able to jump into that this week!
Happy Reading!
