Morning Readers & Happy Saturday!

I’m desperately trying to catch up on some reading and reviews this weekend and I have to say, this one was a surprise! I decided to read it on a whim as it was not on my TBR and I was not expecting to like this pre-release this much!

Arden Roosa is forced to join a school for solider recruits, meant to fight those suffering from ‘the madness’. An illness that breaks out at night and causes people to loose their minds, becoming violent, bloodthirsty killers. At first I kept thinking, ‘ok, so Divergent meets fantasy-zombies?’ I was unsure to say the least and a quick dip into google told me it was kind of along the author’s MO, having written a YA (young adult) series, ‘Alice in Zombieland’. Ultimately though, I couldn’t put it down!

Arden is paired with the ruthless High Prince Cyrus Dolion, she must confront brutal training, deadly forces, unravel the secrets of the Tome Society (an order guarding prophetic books that may hold the key to saving, or dooming, her kingdom) and survive a world where darkness isn’t just around the corner, it comes alive at night and drives you mad.

I’m a little disappointed that no quotes really stood out to me; there didn’t feel to be a higher truth being told, or an underlying theme of humanity or anything. But having said that, I could not put this book down and finished it in two days, easily.

I guess it just goes to show that reading can really just be about the genuine enjoyment of a story. Whether you get it on Kindle or decide to go paperback (Release Date Sept 1st), I think this is really worth the read and will absolutely be reading the second installment coming out this December!

What’s one book you thought you wouldn’t enjoy but ended up Loving??
