Whiskey in a Teacup by Reese Witherspoon

Morning Readers & Happy Monday!
I managed to sneak in an extra book this month and it was the perfect easy listen for a day in the garden. I think it’s a good book if you’re a fan of Reese or are just looking for an easy read/listen with some feel good, southern charm.
It was a stark contrast after having just listened to Matthew McConaughey’s Greenlights and between the two they really highlight two different sides of growing up in the American South. Hers is a lovely retelling of family and growing up a southern lady.
“To me southern womanhood is about both the teacup and the whiskey… some people think that caring about silly things like cooking or fashion is mutually exclusive with serious politics. But my mother and grandmother and their friends taught me that finding pleasure at home whether it was in a family dinner or a book club or a backyard bbq, can give us the strength to go out into the world and do incredible things.”
I love that she also offers a PDF with her audiobook, giving the listener a way to connect that isn’t often found when listening to a book. I can’t wait to try out her sunshine tea and maybe a few of those sliders, they sound like the perfect way to get a piece of the south this summer!
Happy Reading!
