Morning Readers & Happy Monday!
First off, this book is a reread and totally worth revisiting, a solid 3 1/2 stars.
It’s funny though, how you remember a book when going to read it a second time. How different points in your life can impact the effect that book has on you, how you ‘digest’ it if you will. I remember being enamored with this book, and was excited to revisit it in my quest for new content. However, I admittedly read ‘The Fortune Hunter’ for the first time a few years ago, and since then I have been introduced to Jane Austen, the queen of Regency love stories. I also don’t think I was ready for a love triangle brought about by wavering morals and questionable decision making, based on my own, newly single life status.
This quote really set the tone early on,
“Bay had never thought of himself as a bad person before, but now he wondered what sort of person he really was:”
Nonetheless, it was a great, easy weekend read that I would absolutely throw into your beach tote, and be ready to go! & hey, a book is cheaper than a bottle of wine and better company.
Looking up some of the history and people that inspired this book was doubly interesting with real-life ties to Winston Churchill and *spoiler* this did not happen over the presented single season but over nearly 7 years! With that, I leave you, hoping that this book brings you the same happy evenings it brought me!
Happy Reading!
